Employee roster - confirming and declining roster shifts

What does 'confirming shifts' mean

After a roster has been published an organisation may request for allocated shifts to be confirmed by its employees.

Why is this important

Confirming shifts how employees acknowledge that they have received and are able to work their allocated shifts. Roster shifts can be communicated to users via email and/or SMS. Shifts can also be viewed through the online portal. 

NOTE: If your organisation has not enabled the ability to open shifts, you will need to contact your managers directly for shift changes. 

How can shifts be confirmed

Confirming shifts by email

1. You will receive an email listing the shifts you have in upcoming roster:

2. Replying y to the email will confirm all your shifts

3. If your organisation has allowed the open shift feature, you can also reply  with "open #,#" where # is a shift number (the remaining shifts will automatically be confirmed).

 

Confirming shifts by SMS

1. You will receive an SMS listing your upcoming shifts:

2. Replying 'y' to the message will confirm all the shifts

3. If your organisation has allowed the open shift feature, you can also reply  with "open #,#" where # is a shift number (the remaining shifts will automatically be confirmed).

 

Confirming shifts through your online account

1. Your to do list will display an item that you need to confirm shifts:

2. Click the to do item and confirm the shifts

3. If your organisation has allowed the open shift feature, you can also click no to specific shifts

4. Choosing no for a shift will open the shift up and notify your manager

5. Shifts can also be confirmed through the 'My Roster' section

 

Confirming shifts through My Roster

1. Your roster can be accessed through the my roster section:

4. Select the desired period

5. Click on the individual shift and click the confirm button

6. If your organisation has allowed the open shift feature, you can also click the shift and click the open shift button.

 

Note: Opening a shift does not mean the you will not be required to work. Your manager will try and find a replacement for the shift but if a replacement cannot be found, you may be required to still work.
