Roster - rules

This article includes the following topics:

  • Organisation Roster Rules
  • Employee Specific Roster Rules

What are roster rules

Roster rules in easyemployer allow you to set rostering rules across the whole organisation. These rules can be overridden for an individual employee.

Why is this important

Rules affect the automatic assigning of shifts and also the suitability ranking of staff.

An example of this is an employee who has ideal weekly shifts set to 5 will be prioritised over an employee who doesn't have this value set.

NOTE: Fortnightly roster rules will only be displayed for organisations with a fortnightly roster period.

Organisation Roster Rules

Organisation roster rules are applied to all employees except those that have been selected for overridden rules.

1. Click the Organisation tab

2. Click Organisation

3. Click Rules

4. Click Roster Rules

5. The following screen is displayed

6. Here you can set values which will filter down to all employees that don't have overridden values

7. Hover over the help icon  Help_Icon.png for a description of the rule.

8. Click the Edit icon next the rule if you would like to change the value.

8. Click Edit next to the rule Maximum Weekly Hours and set this value to 20

9. You can see now Inherited from is set to N/A instead of Organisation.  This means that any changes to the organisation rules will not affect this employees specific rules.

10. Now the user will only be assigned a maximum of 20 hours automatically or will be shown as a suitability ranking of 0% if they have gone over their maximum weekly hours.
