Timesheet - generate shifts

What is the 'generate shifts' function

Timesheet shifts can be created using the automatically generate shifts function on the timesheet. 

Why is this important

This is useful if you need to populate the timesheet in advance or if you need to process payroll in advance (an example of this is Christmas holidays).

Timesheet shift generation options

The following dialogue will be shown after you click the generate shifts button.

 

How to generate timesheet shifts for a whole timesheet

1. Select Timesheets from the top navigation bar.

2. Select Open a Timesheet

3. Select the timesheet you wish to open.

4. Click the Generate shifts button located at the top of the timesheet in the actions bar.

5. Select how you would like to generate the shifts and click Submit.

Note: If you have the timesheet rule on 'Show warning for automatically created shifts' this will generate warnings on the timesheet. These can be easily ignored by using the Hide warnings buttons located on each row, column or week.

 

How to generate timesheet shifts for only certain groups

1. Open the timesheet for the site(s) you would like to generate the shifts for.

2. Scope down further to areas and roles if required by pressing the Choose Groups button.

3. Click the Generate shifts button located at the top of the timesheet in the actions bar.

4. Select how you would like to generate the shifts and click Submit.

Note: If you have the timesheet rule on 'Show warning for automatically created shifts' this will generate warnings on the timesheet. These can be easily ignored by using the Hide warnings buttons located on each row, column or week.

 

How to generate timesheet shifts for a single user or a whole day

1. Open the timesheets for the site(s) you would like to generate the shifts for.

2. There is an Automatically generate shifts button located on each day, employee or week.

3. Click the generate shifts button.

4. Select how you would like to generate the shifts and click Submit.

Note: If you have the timesheet rule on 'Show warning for automatically created shifts' this will generate warnings on the timesheet. These can be easily ignored by using the Hide warnings buttons located on each row, column or week.
