Excel files not opening files

Some users have reported an issue regarding opening reports and other files downloaded from easyemployer in Microsoft Excel. In this case Excel will start, but the document will not open. This issue is not isolated to easyemployer and reports have been made by other users of web based software. An article explaining this can be found Here.

A recent update to Microsoft Office is the cause of this problem.

Three solutions have been offered by Microsoft to help solve this problem:

Solution 1

  1. Right-click on the downloaded file and choose 'Properties'
  2. Click the 'Unblock' checkbox or button at the bottom-right and click OK
  3. Double-click the downloaded file to open it in Excel

This must be done for each downloaded file.

Solution 2

Move downloaded files to a folder that is in your 'Trusted locations' list in Excel before opening them.

Solution 3

It is possible to avoid this problem for every file downloaded by uninstalling Microsoft Security Update KB3115322 or KB3115262, (whichever exists in the computer).

Note: We do not recommend solution 3 as the preferred course of action.
