1) Purpose and importance of a password
A password increases the security of a user’s account. Best practice is to use passwords containing a combination of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Since sensitive information can be stored in EE, it is strongly recommended to use a secure password.
2) Password complexity requirements
Passwords in EE must meet the following requirements:
- At least 8 characters long.
- Cannot be common dictionary words or easily guessed.
- Cannot be keyboard sequences or repeated words (e.g., qwerty, 1234).
- Must be of average strength or better. The system will calculate strength as you type.
To create a stronger password, use a combination of:
- Upper and lower case letters
- Non-dictionary words
- Special characters and numbers
- Sequences of unrelated words
- A longer overall password
3) How to change your password
- Click your **Initials** in the upper right-hand corner and select Profile.
- Click Password on the left-hand side.
- Enter your **current password**, **new password**, and re-enter the new password to confirm.
- Ensure your new password meets the complexity requirements.
- Click Save. A confirmation message will appear: "Your account password has been successfully updated."
