Common issues & symptoms
- “The key for this time clock is no longer valid”: This means the URL was used on a new device or cookies were cleared. Reset and re-link as described in the steps below.
- PIN entry not working: Clear browser cache and restart the browser and time clock.
- Browser stuck in offline mode: Create a new time clock link and set up again.
Troubleshooting steps
Update browser and operating system
- Ensure your browser is running the latest version of a supported web browser.
- Verify your device’s operating system is up to date and still supported by the vendor.
Clear browser cache and cookies
- Clear the browser’s cache and cookies (select “All time” or “From the beginning of time”).
- Restart the browser.
Note: Clearing cookies will log you out of all sites, including Easy Employer. Ensure you have your login details available.
Reset the time clock “lock”
- Log in to the Easy Employer website as an administrator.
- Go to Timesheets > Time Clocks and find the affected time clock.
- Reset the time clock “lock” by clicking the three dots on the right and selecting Unlock.
- Open the time clock link on your device and try again.
Tip: If you see “The key for this time clock is no longer valid,” cookies may have been deleted or blocked.
Create a new time clock link
- Log in to Easy Employer, go to Time Clocks, and create a new time clock link.
- Set up the time clock again on the device using the new link.
See Time Clock URL Setup & Configuration for more information.
Note: Each time clock URL is unique. You cannot reuse a link on another device without resetting it first.
Try a different browser
- If issues persist, install a different supported browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).
- Repeat the above troubleshooting steps in the new browser.
Additional tips & recommendations
- Restart the device after making the above changes.
- Ensure there is enough free storage space for the browser to operate.
- Disable or remove browser extensions/add-ons that may interfere (privacy, ad blockers, security extensions).
- Check antivirus or firewall settings to ensure the time clock site is not being blocked.
- Ensure the device’s system time is set correctly and synced.
- Do not use “private” or “incognito” browsing modes for the time clock, as these prevent persistent storage of required data.
Support policy & next steps
Supported devices only: Easy Employer support can assist only with time clocks operating on supported and up-to-date devices.
Next steps: If you’ve followed all troubleshooting steps and still experience issues:
- Double-check that your device and browser are supported and up to date.
- Repeat the steps above carefully, as missing a step (like not clearing cookies or not resetting the lock) is the most common cause of persistent issues.
- If your device is not supported, refer to the Unsupported or Outdated Devices guide for next steps.
- For migration, setup, or device troubleshooting, contact your organisation’s IT team or technology support provider if you are unsure of what to do.
