Award Update Needs to Be Processed - What This Means and How to Resolve It

You may see a to do item stating that an award update needs to be processed, or an indication within the award itself that an update needs to be processed.

This message does not mean that Fair Work has made changes to the award itself. Instead, it indicates that changes were made to the award configuration within your Easy Employer account and those changes have not yet been processed.

Here is the to do item

"Award update: "Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010" needs to be processed."

Here is the message when in the award:

"There have been changes made to this award. When all changes are complete, please process the changes to ensure all updates are fully applied.

Note: This will force a recalculation of costs for all users on this award. We strongly advise doing this after business hours as it can significantly impact system performance."

What the Award Update Message Means

Easy Employer calculates and stores roster costs and timesheet costs to allow them to be more efficiently retrieved within that functionality and associated reports.

The award update message appears when changes have been made to the award setup in your Easy Employer environment, such as updates to rate groups, pay groups, payroll categories or other award-related settings.

These changes require processing so the system can correctly recalculate current and future:

  • Roster costs
  • Timesheet costs

Why Processing Is Required

When award configuration changes are saved, cost recalculation is not automatically trigger (e.g. update of roster costs). This allows you to make multiple changes without them being processed each time. Once all changes are done to the award configuration, then you can click the "Process" button in the award to recalculate the costs.

When This Message Appears

This message appears when any change is made to the award configuration where that change relates to 1 or more users. Examples of the changes are:

  • Rate group updates
  • Pay condition changes
  • Adjustments to award rules or settings

For example, if rate group changes were made in July and the award was not processed afterward, the system will continue to display this message until the changes are applied.

How to Resolve the Message

  • Click the "Process" button in the award.
