1) Overview
An ability is a certain qualification or skill that a user may require to perform their role or rostered shift.
This is useful when creating a roster as Easy Employer can display the abilities of all users so a rostering leader can assign shifts to appropriate staff members. Those who create rosters can see when assigning shifts, if an ability has expired for a user.
Some abilities may expire. Certain qualifications or certifications have an expiry date attached to ensure people keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
2) Add abilities to users via the abilities page
- Click Organisation.
- Click Abilities.
- Hover over the ability to show the options button.
- Click the options button to expand it.
- Click Users.
- Users assigned to the ability are shown.
- Click Add user to ability (plus sign button).
- Under the Available users section (depending on your organisation, loading the user list can take a few seconds), select the users.
- Adjust the start date and the expiry date (if required). If no expiry date is set, the default expiry date for the Ability will be automatically set for the selected user(s). If there is no default expiry date set against the Ability, the expire date will be set to "Never".
- For Every user you can add specific notes like "Company Paid Training" (etc).
- Click Add user(s).
- The users are now added to the ability.
3) Add abilities to users via the user's profile
- Click Organisation.
- Click Users.
- Click the user you want to add the ability to.
- Click the Abilities tab on the sidebar.
All abilities the user is assigned to display here. - Click the Add ability button.
- Select the abilities under Available abilities.
- Adjust the start date and the expiry date (if required). If no expiry date is set, the default expiry date for the Ability will be automatically set for the selected user(s). If there is no default expiry date set against the Ability, the expire date will be set to "Never".
- Add any Notes if needed.
- Click Save.
- The abilities are now added to the user.
4) Renew user ability
i) Renew abilities through the to-do list
- Open the Home page.
- Click to expand the ability expiring to-do list item.
- The expiring ability will be displayed.
- Choose a following option:
- Renew - renew the ability and set a new expiry date.
- Ignore - ignore the ability if it is not being renewed.
ii) Renew abilities through the user profile
- Click Organisation.
- Click Users.
- Select the user.
- Select Abilities on the sidebar.
The users abilities are displayed. - Click renew.
- Enter the new date(s).
- Click Save to renew the ability.
