1) Overview

This feature is used to automatically add an unpaid break to a user's timesheet shift if the employee did not clock a break, and it can also be used to speed up rostering by automatically generating an unpaid break after a certain amount of time.

 

2) Configure automatic unpaid break creation

i) For the whole organisation

The automatically create break feature is a timesheet role and therefore, can be configured for the whole organisation by changing the organisations timesheet rule.

  1. Click Organisation.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Rules, and click Timesheet Rules to expand it.

  4. Scroll down to the Automatic breaks section.

  5. Change the values:
    • Automatically create break.
      • No - break will not be automatically created.
      • Yes - break will be created based on the minimum shift length value and the days to apply value.
      • Base on roster shift - the unpaid break will automatically create if the roster shift has one set.
    • Automatically create break every x hours.
      • Enter a value.
    • Minimum shift length (if the automatically create break value is set to Yes).
      • Enter a value - the minimum length to automatically apply the break, e.g 5 hours or for greater than 5, enter 5.01.
    • Days to apply (if the automatically create break value is set to Yes).
      • Select the days for the automatic break to apply to.
  6. Leave shifts breaks can also be set to be automatically created.
    The Leave shifts automatic breaks section is located right below Actual shifts automatic breaks.

ii) For a user

The automatically create break feature is a timesheet role and therefore, can be configured for specific users by applying the user timesheet rule.

  1. Click Organisation.

  2. Click Users.

  3. Select the user.
  4. Click Rules, and click on Timesheet Rules to expand it.

  5. Scroll down to the Actual shifts automatic breaks section.

  6. Change the values:
    • Automatically create break.
      • No - break will not be automatically created.
      • Yes - break will be created based on the minimum shift length value and the days to apply value.
